Womens Leather Babouche Slippers Majorelle Blue

Majorelle Blue

The Bohemia leather slippers are 100% handmade using traditional babouche slipper designs and the techniques of skilled leather artisans just outside of Marrakech.

The babouche slippers are made from soft leather and are dyed using natural, plant-based materials.

The finest leathers are sourced from traditional tanneries in Marrakech. Each piece of leather is cut to shape by hand and dyed using natural plant-based materials. Once the dyed leathers have dried in the sun they are hand-stitched, finished and quality checked.

The majority of the process is carried out by men in small workshops but the fine decorative detail is crafted by women who work in their own homes while also being free to care for their children and families.

Please note | The babouche slippers are made from organically tanned Moroccan sheep leather. The scent of natural tanning will fade quickly on airing.

Please note | Due to the soft sole of the slippers they are designed for indoor use only

Artisan: A worker in a skilled trade, especially one that involves making things by hand

As one of the poorest countries in the world, the need for development in Nepal is huge and Egos Copenhagen believe that the best way to contribute to this is to provide good and lasting jobs to the people of Nepal.

From the very beginning, it was important that all work be conducted under fair working conditions and that workers would be paid a decent wage for their work, and in 2009 Egos were certified by the World Fair Trade Organisation.

Fairtrade stands for better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for workers in the developing world.

By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers, and enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.

As well as providing stable jobs to artisans in Nepal, Egos also provides financial support to orphanages in Kathmandu and have been involved in various development projects.

By purchasing a pair of Egos felted wool slippers you're helping this amazing company provide financial support to a Nepalese artisan and his or her family.

Felted Wool slippers are not only super comfortable but the lanolin in the wool makes the slippers resistant to dirt, moisture and odours, meaning that you very rarely need to clean them. When the time comes where you find they need a wash, follow the below tips:

How to Clean Felted Wool Slippers

Remove any loose dirt or dust by giving your felted wool slippers a hoover with a soft-bristled hoover attachment.

How to Wash Felted Wool Slippers:

We recommend hand washing the slippers with some wool soap, but if you want to stick them in the machine, do them on a gentle 30° wash with wool soap and do not use fabric softener

How to Dry Felted Wool Slippers:

Once washed put the slippers on for a few minutes so that they take the shape of your foot. Then take off and leave to dry (ideally in the sun). Do not line dry as this will make the slippers lose their shape
